Photo Descriptions:

*"Waterfall"
Pastel on paper; framed; for sale; original or print on archival paper
This is the image used on the business card of Grace's mother, Leisa A. Hammett. At the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's summer 2008 three-artist's with autism show, Grace told artist and autism-physician onlooker, Dr. Susan McGrew, MD, that this image was a "waterfall." Grace was "full of herself" that evening. Giddy, using her new talk-computer, she repeatedly pushed the button: "I like purple" in her interactions with admirers.

*"Purple Face" I
Mixed media; framed; for sale
2008 saw the return of Grace's seeming attempts at portraiture. She was having increased benign myoclonic seizure activity at this time. The image suggests a bandaged head. The additional mystery is that she cannot communicate via words (but through art?) the pain she may feel physically--? Or, is the image suggesting knowledge of her difference from typical society?

*Untitled (Purple Face II)

**Hannah Maxwell Rowell was Grace's teacher during 2008, except for several summer sessions with artist/teacher Yvette Renee Parish. Yvette worked with Grace during the prolific year of 2006. Untitled (Purple & Black), here, was created during one of several sessions with Yvette, summer of 2008.
